Vodafone has announced an exclusive mobile promotional partnership with Netflix which will give customers on its 4G plans a six month pre-paid subscription to the internet television network. Along with the other benefits Vodafone has to offer, this could be a powerful incentive for users to choose Vodafone when they make the switch to 4G.
The new Netflix promotion, which will be available from July to December 2014 and applies to Vodafone Red 4G plans priced over £26, will allow 4G customers access to a huge variety of films and TV box sets. An ever growing selection of titles includes Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development, and House of Cards.
The partnership with Vodafone gives customers the flexibility to watch their favourite TV on the go from mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. It is a truly cross screen service, allowing viewers to start watching on one device and then switch to another to complete the programme. Video streaming on the move is one of the key benefits of 4G, and the partnership with Netflix should make the best of this.
According to Bill Holmes, Head of Business Development at Netflix, “Netflix is all about giving people the freedom to watch what they want to watch, when they’d like to watch it, on whatever device. This partnership with Vodafone further enhances that freedom to watch while on the go.”
Vodafone Red 4G Plans
Vodafone Red 4G price plans vary depending on the length of the contract and whether or not the plan includes a handset. As an example a 24 month 4G price plan with a free HTC Desire 610 smartphone would cost:
- £34 per month for unlimited texts and minutes and 3GB data
- £39 per month for unlimited texts and minutes and 5GB data
- £44 per month for unlimited texts and minutes and 9GB data
- £49 per month for unlimited texts and minutes and 13GB data
These plans currently include Sky Sports Mobile TV or Spotify Premium free for the first six months and 500MB of UK Wi-Fi. Vodafone Red 4G customers benefit from Vodafone 5 Star Care which allows them to transfer content from their old phone, protects their phone if it is lost, stolen, or broken, and enables them to upgrade early. Last week we saw that Vodafone had reduced its prices for 4G sim-only plans, making 4G available for just £16 per month.
Let’s get the final word from Cindy Rose, Consumer Director Vodafone UK:
“With 4G, speed is just the start: it’s what you can do with it that’s really exciting. We’re delighted to be partnering with Netflix so that our Red 4G customers can enjoy their favourite TV programmes and films when out and about.
We’re already offering 4G in hundreds of cities, towns and villages across the UK, providing an amazing video streaming experience. There’s no need to mess about finding a wifi hotspot, with ultrafast 4G you can just enjoy your favourite entertainment on the move whenever you want it.”
