Samsung S4 Zoom 4G
Samsung has illustrated one of the many functions of 4G with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom LTE edition. An upgraded version of the Galaxy S4 Zoom, which is well known for its high spec compact camera, the LTE edition will make sharing high quality digital photos quicker and easier than ever before.
A cross between a compact camera and a smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Zoom S4 was a little heavier and bulkier than we have come to expect from a smartphone. However, it satisfied the need for a high spec camera phone, with features such as a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, 10 x optical zoom, optical image stabilisation, and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED 960 x 540 screen. All the device’s key features are accessible via the intuitive ‘zoom ring’ system. Samsung describes the device as the place where “high quality photography meets cutting edge smart technology.”
Although the previous model had wi-fi and 3G, the updated LTE edition with 4G will provide a huge range of benefits for photographers that are keen to share their pictures. It will make uploading and sharing photos, along with backing-up photos in the cloud, quicker and easier. It will also allow photo editing and sharing apps to be downloaded far more easily.
Another function that will be embraced by today’s instant society is the in-call photo sharing feature. A mere twist of the camera’s zoom ring will allow users to take and share a photo immediately, even when they are in the middle of a call; ideal if they need to show the person on the other end of the line what they are looking at.
Finally the new LTE edition will include the ‘photo suggest’ feature, which gives the user access to extensive libraries of images taken by fellow photographers. Using the phone’s GPS it can provide examples of photos taken in the immediate vicinity, and can even provide directions to established vantage points.
Talking about the new Galaxy S4 Zoom LTE edition, Simon Stanford, Vice-President of the IT and Mobile Division of Samsung UK suggests that “today’s consumers place great importance on being connected with their world, a need that is catered for with the LTE technology. It’s powerful, stylish and is perfect for those who want to take outstanding pictures from a device that’s always with them and then share them immediately and easily.”
Discussing the release of the handset in Asia, Irene Ng, Vice President of Marketing, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd believes that “as communication becomes increasingly multi-faceted, people are looking for devices which can complement their lifestyles, without having to worry about the inconvenience of bringing multiple devices.”
The new 4G camera phone is already available in mainland Europe. As yet it is uncertain when it will be available in the UK, but it is certainly on its way. Samsung has confirmed that the phone will work on six different bands, meaning that it will be compatible with all of the 4G networks in the UK.
