EE customers that order the Nokia Lumia 930 this month will get the handset for free as long as they sign up to a £29.99 per month 24 month price plan. This will include 1000 voice minutes, unlimited texts, and 1GB data. They will also receive a free wireless charging kit worth £130 and a £20 Windows Phone store voucher.

According to Sharon Meadows, director of devices at EE, “Microsoft has optimised the Nokia Lumia 930 with its most advanced operating system yet, and placed imaging at its core. We all know it’s no fun waiting to upload a document or video, which is why the handset has been engineered to be at its best when combined with superfast 4G on the move.”

The Nokia Lumia 930 is the fifth high-end smartphone to be released this year, and replaces the Lumia 925 as Nokia’s flagship phone. It will be looking to outdo its competitors, the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Sony Xperia Z2, the HTC One M8 and the LG G3, and is likely to be priced at around £480 sim-free which is less than you might expect for such a high spec 4G phone.

The most talked about feature of the 4G enabled Nokia Lumia 930 is the operating system, as it will be the first high-end handset to be equipped with Windows Phone 8.1, the latest version of the Microsoft operating system, although this has already been installed in the Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 budget versions.

Nokia have taken a unibody design approach, with the handset made from a single piece of aluminium to create a robust device. A sheet of polycarbon on the back allows different colour finishes, including black, white, orange, and green. The handset measures 137 x 71 x 9.8mm.

The Nokia Lumia 930 has a 5 inch full HD screen, with a 1920 x 1080 OLED display, and the Windows 8.1 operating system means you now have three columns of live tiles on the home screen rather than two. A new addition is the Action Center, where you can see all your latest notifications in one place. You have four customisable quick settings at the top of the screen and the setup is fairly similar to iOS.

The default web browser of the 4G enabled phone is Internet Explorer 11, which is ideal for those looking to integrate various Windows devices. You can sync all your favourites from your desktop or Windows 8 tablet to your phone. You can also browse on your phone, put it down, and carry on where you left off on your tablet or desktop.

The camera is a great feature of the Nokia Lumia 930. It has a 20MP Pureview camera on the back, with dual LED flash, optical image stabilisation, and a Carl Zeiss lens. The Nokia camera application has a wide range of setting to suit both point and shoot and professional photography. The camera records full HD video and there are four microphones for rich sound recording. There is also a front facing 2MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Other features of the Nokia Lumia 930 include:

  • 32GB internal storage
  • 7GB Microsoft OneDrive cloud space
  • 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 2420mAh battery
  • Battery saver mode
